Yale CPV & CPVF Electric Chain Hoist
Yale's medium-duty 400v or 230v electric hoist, available in capacities from 250kg upto 5 tonne WLL with options for hook/lug suspension or trolley mounted.
CPV / CPVF / YCEC-4989
Standard CPV and CPVF Features
- Classification 1 Am/M4. For 1-phase hoists: 1 Bm/M3. As required (with appropriate changes to lifting capacity resp. duty cycle) the model CPV can also be re-classified up to 3m/M6.
- Main contactor as standard, for increased safety.
- Increased operating safety through 42V LVC (low voltage control), push-button pendant control, IP 65.
- 360-day warranty (excluding wear parts) and a lifetime lubricated gearbox.
- Electromagnetic spring pressure brake holds the load safely even in the event of power failure.
- Motor protected to IP 55 (acc. to VDE 0530), against ingress of dust and water jets.
- The easily adjustable slip clutch is designed to guarantee a permanent connection between the load and the brake.
- The standard, oil bath lubricated and case-hardened gearbox has a helical gearing for particularly smooth running and enhanced lifetime. The models CPV/F 2-8 and 5-4, CPV 2-4 and 5-2 as well as CPV/F 25-8 and 50-4 have a sealed gearbox with lifetime lubrication.
- Suspension lug for compact dimensions and easy integration in closed-eye constructions. The hoists are also available with top hook suspension.
- All-steel chain guide. The models CPV/F 2-8 and 5-4 as well as CPV 2-4 and 5-2 have a thermoplastic (POM) chain guide that is integral to the housing.
Optional Hoist Features
- Stainless steel load chain (no reduction of working load limit).
- Stainless steel load hooks for single fall hoists.
- Food industry-approved gearbox lubricants.
- Suspension hook or lug.
- Manual or electric travelling trolley.
- Flexible chain container.
- Other operating voltages.
- Counter for operating hours and number of starts.
- Radio remote control.
- Control for synchronized operation of several hoists.
- Festooned cable systems and alternative power supplies.
- Suspension for light crane systems.
Yale CPV and CPVF: What's the difference?
The difference is quite simple. The Yale CPV is a single-speed electric hoist whereas the CPVF or CPV/F is twin/dual speed with 1 fast speed and 1 slow speed which makes the CPVF more suited for positioning applications where a slower speed is a necessity. What these speeds are is dependent on the capacity of the hoist itself. e.g. the 1-tonne single fall unit with dual lifting speeds would have a fast speed of 8 m/min and a slow speed of 2 m/min, whereas the 2-tonne CPVF would have a 4 m/min fast speed and a 1 m/min slow speed. In this instance, the reason for the lifting speeds being halved between the 1-tonne, 1-fall unit and the 2-tonne, 2-fall unit is that the base unit is the same, but the bottom hook block is replaced with a 2-tonne hook which allows the load chain to be reeved back to the hoist body effectively doubling the capacity of the 1 tonne 1 fall CPV.
Looking at the table below, you will see other instances of this. e.g. 250kg 1-fall is also the base unit for the 500kg 2-fall version (again with the bottom hook block replaced with a 0.5t one).

Yale Chain Hoists: General Information
Yale chain hoists convince owners and operators alike through their compact, elegant design, low tare weight and robust construction.
A precision machined, case-hardened load chain sheave perfectly matched to the load chain, an oil-bath lubricated gearbox with hardened gears and high-quality encapsulated bearings ensure smooth, quiet operation.
The adjustable slip clutch, fitted as an overload safety device, is engineered for low maintenance and also serves as an overrun protection for the highest and lowest load hook positions.
The pendant control is fitted with an emergency-stop switch as standard.
Forged suspension and load hooks, manufactured from non-ageing, high alloy tempering steel, yield under overload instead of breaking.
Apart from the stationary configurations (hook suspension) manual push, geared and electric trolleys are available. The trolleys are suitable for all commercial beam profiles e.g. INP, IPE and IPB.
The electric trolleys are fitted with a self-braking worm gearbox. The surface-protected, high-tensile load chains are in accordance with national and international standards and regulations (DIN EN 818).
Alternative Yale electric hoists are offered in a range of capacities reaching up to 10 tonnes, with various operating voltages and optional or distinctive features. Additionally, there is a wide selection of electric hoist brands from renowned global manufacturers, as well as emerging companies in the market.
Important: Yale hoists and trolleys are not designed for passenger elevation applications and must not be used for this purpose.
